Questions, properly answered.
Good presents matter. Getting them to the right people, at the right time, matters too.
Why Proper Presents?
Why should we choose Proper Presents?
Because you want people to love the gift without having to become an expert in gifting yourself.
We curate the products, make the choices simpler and take care of the practical side. Fewer choices. Better presents. Gifting made easy.
Proper Presents is new. How do I know you can deliver?
Proper Presents is new. We’re not new to gifting.
The team previously created and ran Dave & Geoff, a gifting business launched during lockdown. That gave us hands-on experience sourcing products, working with suppliers, packing orders, managing fulfilment and getting gifts safely into people’s hands.
Do you sell alcohol?
Our current collections are alcohol-free.
We’ve built gifts that feel generous and celebratory without relying on booze, making them easier to give across a diverse team, whether someone drinks or not.
What is the £50 trivial-benefit rule?
UK employers may be able to provide certain non-cash benefits costing £50 or less without tax or National Insurance being due, provided the relevant HMRC conditions are met.
Our £49.50 option is priced with that threshold in mind. You should check the HMRC rules, or take advice, to make sure your specific gift and circumstances qualify.
Ordering and delivery.
How do I order?
Start with your budget. We have five Proper Presents at five price points.
Tell us how many you need and how you’d like them delivered. We’ll confirm the details with you before everything gets moving.
Can I speak to somebody before ordering?
Please do.
If you have questions, quantities to confirm, an internal approval to get through or simply want somebody to tell you what they’d choose, talk to us.
Can we pay by invoice or purchase order?
For corporate orders, yes. We can work with your purchasing process and provide the information you need to get things approved internally.
If your company has particular supplier onboarding requirements, let us know early and we’ll help get them sorted.
Can you send presents to individual home addresses?
Yes. You can supply the addresses and we’ll deliver individually.
If you need help with address handling, talk to us before ordering and we’ll agree the most practical route.
Can we keep the gift a surprise?
Absolutely. If you supply the delivery information, there’s no need for us to contact recipients beforehand.
Can everything be delivered to our office instead?
Of course. One location, several offices or individual recipients. Tell us how you want to do it.
Can different people receive different presents?
Yes. If you have different teams, seniority levels, client groups or VIPs, we can help you structure the order.
For more complex requirements, our Bespoke service is probably the better place to start.
Can you add our branding?
Sometimes.
We like branding when it adds something, not simply because there’s an empty surface available for a logo.
Depending on the brief, we can look at considered branded details, printed pieces, custom packaging and company-specific elements.
What if none of the five presents is quite right?
That’s what Bespoke is for.
Give us your audience, budget, quantity, deadline and what you want the present to achieve. We’ll come back with a considered answer rather than another enormous list of options.
Is there a minimum order?
It depends on what you’re ordering.
Standard Proper Presents and bespoke projects have different requirements, and custom elements can come with supplier minimums of their own. Tell us roughly how many people you’re buying for and we’ll be clear about what’s possible from the start.
How early should we order?
Earlier is always easier, particularly for larger quantities, bespoke work and multi-address delivery.
We’ll publish clear Christmas ordering deadlines once the range opens, but if you’re planning a sizeable order, there’s no reason to wait.
Can you guarantee a particular delivery date?
We’ll agree the delivery plan with you before confirming the order and will always be clear about what’s achievable.
For large or time-sensitive projects, we recommend building in a little breathing room.
What happens if something becomes unavailable?
We choose the range carefully and plan stock around Christmas demand.
If circumstances outside our control mean something genuinely has to change, we won’t quietly swap it for an inferior substitute. We’ll speak to you and agree the right solution.
What about food allergies and dietary requirements?
Where a present contains food or drink, ingredient and allergen information will be available.
If you’re buying for a group with specific dietary requirements, tell us before ordering so we can advise on the most appropriate route.
Do you deliver outside the UK?
Talk to us.
International delivery can involve additional timings, costs and customs requirements, so we’ll confirm what’s possible based on the destination and the order.
Still have a question?
Good. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you contact us.
Tell us what you’re planning and we’ll help with the rest.
